GREETINGS FROM THE FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT
Welcome to the Faculty Senate at Saint Louis University. The Senate is the representative body of the faculty, working to uphold our academic mission, Catholic Jesuit ideals, and the principles of shared governance. The Senate serves as the representative body for all faculty at Saint Louis University. Senators are elected by their academic unit — college, school, library, or unaffiliated unit — to bring forward the views of their colleagues. In this role, they both represent the faculty and emgage as University citizens, sharing information from Senate meetings, including decisions and resolutions, while also listening to perspectives from across campus.
Through monthly meetings and the work of our committees, the Senate provides a voice for faculty across all academic units and serves as a partner in University governance. Here you will find information about meetings, committees, and ways to share your ideas and concerns.
I encourage you to explore The Faculty Manual, which outlines the rights and responsibilities of the faculty, and to stay engaged with the work of the Senate. Together, we strengthen our University community.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly (joe.lyons@slu.edu) with questions or concerns. The Faculty Senate is here to listen, represent, and support you.
